Manifesto

A picture should make you feel something, stir your emotion, recall a precious memory...maybe even make you cry. That is when I have done my job right as your family photographer.

About me

Hello beautiful,
I am so glad you found me.

Just a little bit about me… I was born and raised in Germany…former East Germany actually. Memories consist of gum and exotic candies received via packages from friends living in West Germany, one or maybe two TV channels in black&white, Pioneer School system and a big wall around us. When I was 14 my dream was to live somewhere with palm trees around.

CONTACT ME

Thankfully that wall came down so after finishing college I moved to Los Angeles, California – there were lots of palm trees. In L.A. I met my husband Colin. We literally met, fell in love, dated for a minute and got married in less than a year. That was 15 years ago. Today we live with our two kids Joshua and Layla, and Golden Retriever Charlie in Sammamish, Washington (East Seattle) – the gorgeous PNW!!

We are somewhat food snobbish and enjoy home cooking as well as experiencing culinary adventures while we travel, which is our other passion.

I love Chicken Noodle soup, eating Haribos until I get sick (every single time) and drink LaCroix water like it’s going out of style.

Did you notice that I’ve been mainly talking about food?

FAQ
QUESTION
ANSWER

How do I book a session with you?

After our initial contact we will discuss date & time as well as location for your upcoming photo session. I know a lot of different beautiful Natural areas that are perfect for picture backgrounds but I am very happy to go wherever you envision your photo shoot. I prefer to schedule sessions within the 1-1.5 hours after sunrise or before sunset to capture the beautiful light during the "Golden Hour". I follow the weather closely and will be in touch within 24 hours of our session in case we need to reschedule due to bad weather conditions.

How do you handle payment?

At the time of booking I will send you a portrait session contract as well as a PayPal payment request for the session retainer. Both need to be returned to me within 7 days in order to reserve your session date. The remainder is due on the day of your session in cash or check. All rates and conditions can be found under Investment.

Do you offer travel sessions?

Yes! I am located in Sammamish, WA but I happily travel to your preferred location no matter if it's 15 or 150 miles away. Travel/Accomodation fees may apply. Please check my contact page for travel dates.

What should I wear?

Outfits are a hot topic many times so I started a board on Pinterest for ideas and inspiration: https://www.pinterest.com/biancamalone/what-to-wear/.
General guideline is to stay away from matching everyones outfit (think everybody wearing jeans and a white shirt). Choose a color scheme – mix and match colors so that everyone flows and coordinates. Accessories are always helpful too. I personally love bold colors, texture, layers...boho flower dresses and floral crowns get me really excited. :)
Feel free to email or text me a snapshot of the clothes you picked in case you are unsure.

I am not very comfortable in front of the camera / My kids don't like their pictures taken. How do you get natural looking pictures?

On location I try to keep the mood light and everyone relaxed. I sometimes say funny stuff and I still - even after almost 15 years living in the US - mispronounce or misuse words (the German in me). That alone makes for some pretty hilarious shoots AND results in beautiful and natural smiles that weren't commanded with a "Cheeeese".
I have worked with a lot of children and feel very comfortable engaging with them. Having 2 kids of my own and constantly chasing them with my camera makes me fairly experienced in that area.

My goal is to capture everyones individual personality as well as the dynamic within the family or between the couple. I help with general posing but encourage my models to interact with each other, laugh, tickle, cuddle, kiss, tell jokes, whisper sweet words...this is where the most touching and emotional images are being created.

What happens after the session?

I promise to have your pictures edited and completed within 2-4 weeks of your session (depending on session length). You will receive a link to your password protected online gallery from where you can download your chosen files, share and print any picture you like. Depending on which package you chose you receive a certain amount of high resolution picture files and print release which you can pick from your gallery. Those pictures can be downloaded within the next 14 days and printed at your preferred provider or conveniently through my store.

A word about prints:
Consider investing in your prints as much as in getting your pictures taken. There is a big difference in quality between mass production printing companies and the pro labs photographers use. I print all my personal work at my lab and I can ensure not only a speedy processing time and delivery but also long lasting, high quality prints of your beautiful pictures.
