There is something very special about being the one who documents a Family’s big milestones in life. Engagement, Wedding…the baby bump. I’ve been part of all of these with the Trefonas Family.
It all started with AJ, Kelley’s husband. He was my very first session when I just started my little Photography business. AJ and I know each other from Trials MMA – a local mixed martial arts gym which has a great community and tight like Family.
I was really excited when they asked me to photograph their engagement and wedding this past spring in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado.
On her wedding day Kelley told me she is pregnant and I knew then that I wanted to do her maternity session which I gifted her as a Thank You for trusting me to be their wedding photographer.
We met at Horsetooth Reservoir on a foggy but mild morning mid November. The light couldn’t have been more gorgeous and the little bit of fog left on the water just added to this really cool atmosphere. Soon the clouds lifted and let in wonderful warm morning light which we took full advantage of.
The night before our session I attended a flower crown workshop through the amazing ladies of Lace & Lilies
. It seemed perfect to use this beautiful crown for Kelley’s maternity session and it was (I am saying that very dreamy eyed because this was the first flower crown I ever made and I am kinda hooked now ;))!
She is already this beautiful glowing mama and the crown just was the perfect finish. The colors and textures worked great with her dark hair, beautiful skin and white maternity dress. The perfect pop of color.
Of course Horsetooth Reservoir did not disappoint. I love all the different rock formations, colors & textures. We even had a few specks of snow left from a recent storm. It so happens that this shoot is actually very cohesive with their Engagement pictures which we did in February at the same spot with very similar weather conditions. Read their blog post here
